A little while ago some buds and I (together we are the Cultivation Collective?) put together a little figure drawing party at Public Works. Here's an article about it! It was Jungle themed! I painted a pretty lady like a leopard, we covered the place in plants, people came and drew. It was a good time! More of these things in THE FUTURE...

Sadly, Log Book 3, which was started in late November and continued through the first days of the new year, was lost. I think I left it Adobe Books. And then I think someone took it, you know, because it was awesome. After two weeks of searching and becoming depressed, Log Book 3.5 was commenced. Highlights:

Whoof it's been over a month since my last post! I was in Texas. Not Austin. Not Houston. Not Dallas. TEXAS. Palestine, TX in the Eastern part more specifically. I went to a TexMex restaurant called Little Mexico with my two cousins and they dumped packets of Splenda into their salsa. (!!!!!???!!!!)

So yea, vacation, then Lobster Man. For the past 3 weeks I've been working on this guy here. He is going to get dressed to the nines and grace the front window of the 826 Valencia Pirate Store starting in early July. Come check it out!

I made this for my friend Dmitriy who volunteers at 826 Valencia. I was working in the pirate store and he asked me how I motivate myself to work on creative projects. He told me to make a guide for him so I did! I've been feeling a lot of creative angst myself recently, so maybe by putting this up here I'll be more apt to keep it in mind.

My dad, sister, and I used to eat there almost every week and developed a pretty special relationship with sensei. Larry and I ate there a couple weeks ago and we asked him what was special that evening. "Radiation."

I use it mostly for writing down dreams and lists and ideas, but it also acts as little repository for silly doodles. HI everybody! If you live nearish to San Francisco, I'd like to invite you to a group show at The Rollup Gallery at Public Works, located at 161 Erie (off Mission between 14th and Duboce). The opening happening Friday, Feb. 4th from 7 to 10:30! I'll be showing four drawings from my Subset series. You can click here to see a complete list of participating artists, and get other more detailed details. If you come on by, you can also check out the mural, which features a BANKSY in the the center! It was a collaborative effort that features the work of a bunch of artists, including these little froglike creautures I painted.

Unfortunately, a vandal (collaborator...?) decided to alter it, and they don't quite look like this anymore. Oh well!

My schedule got really thrown off this weekend from working late nights, so last night I decided to use the wonderful resource of Ambien to get back on track. Waiting for it to kick in, I started to lazily record some ideas from my previous night's dream, which took place at "Facebook headquarters."

On the next page I started to try to render an image of a bearded friend who made an appearance in the dream, but instead, it evolved (devolved?) into this. The text is hard to read (especially if you don't read French, huh). The French says "Everyone wants to know" and then in English "Will you fight for yourself/or fight alone/ALONE/or with your kin"

Now operating in an entirely confused state of consciousness, I let loose a drawing (hey, and a poem too!). Don't ask me what it means now. I really couldn't tell you.

Penguin has a great series of books with blank covers--so that you can make one! I've been sitting on my copy of the Brothers Grimm Fairy Tales collection for well over a year, and finally I made a cover for it. I wanted to feature a more obscure story, but I've been obsessed with Rapunzel for far too long to pass up an illustration opportunity.

I made this comic about Swan, a constant presence at Adobe Book Shop, where I sometimes work. Swan doen't talk much--usually he just wanders in and out of the store or writes Agent World, his daily newsletter, on a typewriter. But one night I had the good fortune of catching him in a chatty mood, and I did my best to record it.
